Twilight Thursdays! Vol. 1 Issue 36

Finally! The Official Twilight Guide will be released on April 12, 2011. If you can’t recall previous discussions about this book, I can’t blame you. This guide was scheduled to come out after the release of the first Twilight film back in 2008, but was pushed back for several reasons and schedule conflicts.   At last, we’ll get all the details not covered in the books to help flesh out the world of Forks, WA and its supernatural inhabitants.

Little Brown sent a press release letting us know exactly what we can expect.
You can pre-order the book on amazon.

– Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, has announced today at the Frankfurt Book Fair that it will release The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer on April 12, 2011. This definitive encyclopedic reference to the Twilight Saga is the only official guide and is full color throughout, including nearly 100 full-color illustrations and photographs. The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide will be released in hardcover for $24.99 and also be available as an e-book.

The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide provides readers with exclusive new material and everything they need to further explore the unforgettable world Stephenie Meyer created in Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn and The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. The Guide also includes character profiles, outtakes, a conversation with Meyer, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references, and much more. Originally announced as “The Official Guide,” The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide includes illustrations from several artists, including Young Kim, the illustrator behind the #1 New York Times bestselling Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1.

“I’m always amazed at how many in-depth questions my readers have about my characters and the world within the Twilight Saga,” said Stephenie Meyer. “With The Official Illustrated Guide, I hoped we could incorporate as many details as possible, including character histories, like Alice’s back story. I’m thrilled with the different artistic interpretations done by Young Kim and the other talented illustrators, including Bella’s wedding dress. I hope the fans feel it was worth the wait!”{twicrackaddict}

What do you think of the castings?  Let us know in the comments below! To be honest, I hadn’t thought of anyone in particular, but I absolutely did want Ben Barnes in there somewhere! Oh well, a Twilighter can dream!

A couple of them have already hit Twitter and are feeling the TwiLove!

Stephanie Meyer confirms the casting for Renesemee via the Twilight facebook page. (That page, btw, has over 15 million fans!)

Hi Everyone!

Congratulations to the Twilight Facebook Fan Page!  15 million fans!  You guys never cease to amaze me.  In other news...

Bill Condon discusses his production in team in a letter to fans!
Hello fans!

Has it really been five months (and a day) since my last dispatch? In my defense, they've been five months spent immersed in the world of TWILIGHT - something I'm sure you can all appreciate. We're in the thick of pre-production now, juggling everything from casting to storyboarding to location scouting, getting it all ready to go, but I do want to take a moment to announce to you exclusively a few of the amazing production team members who are hard at work alongside me, bringing these movies to life. I hope you'll be as excited about them as I am:

Guillermo Navarro, who won an Academy Award for the beautiful PAN'S LABYRINTH, is our cinematographer. Guillermo and I have been painstakingly planning each shot, with a team of very talented storyboard artists.

Michael Wilkinson, our costume designer, is bringing his brilliant vision to the styles of all your favorite characters. Michael's created fantastic looks for 300, WATCHMEN, and the upcoming TRON: LEGACY - just wait 'til you see his take on the vampire witnesses who come to Forks from around the globe.

Jean Black, our makeup designer, has worked extensively with the Coen Brothers and David Fincher, most recently making exquisite, award-winning contributions to THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON. I'm honored to be working with her.

Richard Sherman, with whom I made GODS AND MONSTERS and KINSEY, is on-board as our production designer. Richard's one of my oldest collaborators and a terrific designer, and you may be interested to know that he also happens to be a lifelong vampire aficionado.

Our Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor John Bruno has been responsible for some of the most memorable special effects ever, with his groundbreaking work on display in everything from POLTERGEIST to AVATAR. He and his team are working intensely to develop solutions to the host of special effects challenges that Stephenie created for us in BREAKING DAWN, including that remarkable kid...

Wonderful, imaginative people all and very exciting, intense times for us. Even with the months of work we've already put in, we're barely underway on the journey, and I do hope to get back to you much sooner next time with more news. Until then, thanks for your warm reception and continued support!

Very best regards,
Bill

Did you know that these two are an item?
That’s Joe Jonas & our Ashley Greene! According to “insiders” they’re very serious and he’s just smitten with the gorgeous Greene. {showbiz}

I’m sure you’ll never forget these hands.

They belong to hand model Kimbra Hickley who was recently interviewed by NY Post about her involvement with the series & its fans.

"It was major exposure for my hands," said the petite, 40-year-old model. "But nobody knew who I was."…
"I see people reading it on the subway, and I say, 'Those are my hands! I'm a hand model!' " she explained. "I'm sure they think I'm crazy -- a crazy lady on the subway."

The good-natured Hickey sometimes hangs out near the cash register at the Barnes & Noble near her Greenwich Village apartment to spread the word. Surprised customers sometimes ask her for her autograph or to trace the outline of her hand on the book jacket.

She even carries around a Gala apple in her purse at times so she can recreate the pose for people.
"It was too big of a deal just to let it be," she said, although she admitted that she has become "a little goofy" about the whole thing.

Hickey is a massage therapist who works a few days each month as a "parts models."…I never see myself as having perfect hands," she explained. "I guess I'm just lucky that they photograph well."
Hickey's agent, Danielle Korwin, said her hands are in demand because they are "veinless" -- not the sort of hands a vampire would like.

The 2004 photo shoot for the "Twilight" book cover paid $300 -- the industry standard for two hours of work. Hickey had to file her nails extra short so her tiny hands didn't look like an adult's.
Lately, she's been going to "Twilight" fan conventions -- she's at one this weekend in Portland, Ore. -- where she sells apple-scented hand lotion.

So far, she knows of four "Twihards" -- as the vampire-romance fans are called -- who've gotten tattoos of her hands.

Her goal is to break into acting. She's trying to contact the casting director for the fourth installment in the "Twilight" series.

"If I could get a little background part, it would be fantastic," she said -- "even if they only wanted my hands in it!”
