Twilight Thursdays! Vol. 2, Issue 41

I reviewed Breaking Dawn Pt. 1 and I liked it just about as much as I liked the book. Although there are some really marked improvements from the previous films. Also, I must admit I am looking forward to the more aciton oriented part two! Withouth a doubt, one of the best moments of the movie was the reveal of the dress. All of the secrecy was worth it! Breaking Dawn made out big time!

Breaking Dawn Movie posted some great facts about the beautiful wedding dress worn by Bella

  1. Carolina Herrera designed the dress exclusively for Breaking Dawn Part 1 based on input from Twilightauthor Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon. They chose from ten sketches that Carolina Herrera created.
  2. The dress was made by hand by Ms.Herrera and four seamstresses, and took a total of six months to complete.
  3. The dress was custom fit precisely for Kristen Stewart, who plays plays Bella Swan / Cullen in the movie.
  4. The dress was created from crepe satin and French Chantilly lace.
  5. 152 buttons line the back of the dress.
  6. There are 17 buttons on each sleeve.
  7. Herrera designed the back to be a surprise, considering it romantic. When it is revealed in the film it makes for a dramatic reveal, I’d say!
  8. The dress will be in Carolina Herrera’s 2012 collection and available at CHNY boutiques. Time for that trip to New York City!
  9. The estimated value of the dress is a whopping $35,000.
  10. Alfred Angelo will be selling replicas of the dress starting at $799 if you want the look for less for your wedding. Big spenders could even get one to be the belle of the ball for a Twilight Convention!

Fashion designer Carolina Herrera talks about designing Bella’s wedding dress for Breaking Dawn Part 1 with Vogue UK.
It took designer Carolina Herrera, and four seamstresses, over six months to make and was custom-made specifically for Stewart to wear in her on-screen wedding to her vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen. Made using crepe satin and French Chantilly lace, the dress features 152 buttons on the back and 17 on each sleeve.

“In the initial fitting when Kristen put the dress on and looked in the mirror, she was very moved,” the designer told us. ”In that moment she was not an actress or a character in a film, she was a bride, and a happy one at that.  It is always very important to make the bride happy, of course, and in this case I was delighted to do so.  It was a very special moment for both Kristen and the character of Bella to share.”

“I was of course inspired by Stephenie’s description of the gown in the book, but I added the touch of Herrera and also took into consideration the personality and the style of the bride,” said Herrera. ”A wedding dress is both an intimate and personal for a woman - it must reflect the personality and style of the bride.  Bella’s dress is romantic and filled with a timeless sophistication, very similar to the character. In a way, this dress served as a symbol of the character’s coming of age and introduction into womanhood.”

“Being a big follower of The Twilight Saga, I was very flattered to be a part of this fantastic project,” she told us. “I read the books and saw the first film and have been a fan ever since.  You can’t walk down the street and run into someone who doesn’t know what Twilight is anymore, whether it be the books or the movie.  Our bridal collections always possess a timeless elegance and sophistication and I found the same elements in Stephenie Meyer’s descriptions of Bella’s dress.”

I loved this dress! It was much better than I thought it would be. It’s an absolute masterpiece and I can’t blame any bride for wanting to wear this to her wedding. Luckily, you can!
Alfred Angelo is selling pitch-perfect replicas of the Carolina Herrera original in ivory and white with sizes ranging from 0 to 30W.
Brides everywhere will be pleased to know that it’s available for just $799 in stores across the country.
The dress was shipped secretly to stores and was unveiled today, but it’s been in the work for months.

Under a confidentiality agreement that designer Michael Shettel jokes was “signed in blood.” The company, which used undisclosed code names for the Twilight dress project, limited its circle of principals involved to only about four people, the designer said. Mr. Shettel was also invited to the Los Angeles movie set to view the original dress.

The gown, which retails for $799 at Alfred Angelo stores nationwide, features long lace-trimmed sleeves, a Chantilly-inspired lace applique trim and a plunging cut-out illusion back. While the cinematic gown is in silk, the replica gown uses liquid satin. “The stitching on the bodice is the same, and the lace detailing is similar,” Mr. Shettel says. “There were pricing issues to try to get it down to $799. That was the biggest issue more than design issues.” {BreakingDawnMovie}

TwiFUN Time!

Celebuzz posts:
Chicago-based artist Katherine Kalnes has transformed pancakes into some of the biggest stars on the planet and revealed that each pancake takes up to eight hours to make! The 25 year old has created a delicious edible art using a special pancake batter called Batter Blaster, frosting, chocolate chips, blueberries and raisins.

What if Taylor Lautner & Robert Pattinson were combined? Would it bring peace to this taking sides in a supernatural war? I don't know, but that is one SUPER hot man! What would be his name? Taybert Lauttinson? Roblor Pattiner?
