Survivor Singer Jimi Jamison Dies at 63

Survivor frontman Jimi Jamison has died, the band announced Monday. He was 63.

"The entire Survivor family is very shocked and saddened by the passing of our brother Jimi Jamison. Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to his family and friends," read a post on the Survivor Facebook page.

He died in his home in Memphis, Tenn. Sunday, of an apparent heart attack, TMZ reports.

Jamison joined the rock band in 1983 after they had released their hit "Eye of the Tiger," and went on to contribute vocals on songs such as “High On You," “I Can`t Hold Back" and "The Moment of Truth" from The Karate Kid.

As a solo artist, he wrote and performed the theme song to Bay Watch, "I’m Always Here,"

Jamison grew up in rural Mississippi and also performed on the Survivor song "Burning Heart" from Rocky IV.
