Networks set premiere dates for the return of fan favorites "Chuck" and "Lost" as well as gave a surprise extension to the ratings-challenged "Trauma."

NBC announced that "Chuck" will come back to Monday nights staring Jan. 11, yet will actually premiere the night before -- Sunday the 10th.

Although the Sunday "Chuck" return will have a "Dateline" lead-in, NBC is airing two NFL playoff games the night before, which will be used to promote the show. NBC ordered six additional episodes of "Chuck" earlier this fall and now will have 19 to air. Guest stars for this third season will include Angie Harmon, Brandon Routh, Armand Assante, Steve Austin and Robert Patrick.

"Heroes" will have a special two-hour episode Jan. 4, then step forward into to its previous time period at 9 p.m. to make room for "Chuck."

With the two superpower dramas paired once again, that leaves 9 p.m.'s "Trauma" without a chair -- but NBC is not halting production on the show. NBC is ordering three more episodes, for a total of six to air sometime in 2010. Though the medical drama has been struggling in the ratings, the move gives NBC some added inventory to use somewhere else on its schedule.

Over on ABC, "Lost" will move to Tuesday nights for its eagerly anticipated final season. "Lost" will return with a two-hour premiere (and one-hour clip-show lead-in) on Feb. 2.

ABC is moving the drama because its new comedy block led by "Modern Family" is warming up Wednesdays at 9 p.m. (where "Lost" ran last season). ABC is expected to shift the "Dancing With the Stars" results show to 8 p.m. to serve as a lead-in.
