True Grit

The Coen Brothers take on a classic western, remaking a version that skews closer to the original text. Factor in some amazing actors (Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin) and one phenomenal performance from first timer Hailee Steinfeld and you’ve got the recipe for all-around awesome film. This remake was a perfect fit for the Coens’ sensibilities and Bridges simply is Rooster Cogburn. I still think that Steinfeld should have been have been nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, but hopefully we'll have many more solid roles from her in the years to come.

QUALITY:
Fantastic. This film looks terrific on Blu-Ray. The cinematography is beautiful, the scenery is gorgeous, the whole nine yards. This is a perfect movie for the format.

True Grit was one of my favorite films from last year and it’s one of the best Blu-Rays of the year so far. If you’re a fan of any of the talent involved, you need to check this out as soon as possible.
