The Lawsuits

The Lawsuits

The Philly based band, The Lawsuits, released their new album, Cool Cool Cool, on October 1st, 2013 produced and mixed by Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Man Man) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Jack White, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana). Once described as a "schizophrenic mix of modern Americana", The Lawsuits don't stop there - interweaving elements of reggae, 60's pop flair, and 80's anthemic refrains, woven together by intricate lyrics.  Check out the band's website for more!

Your inspirations run over the course of 4 decades from the 60s to today. Was it difficult to mesh these influences into something cohesive?

Its not really a conscience effort to blend things together, it just sort of happens. The music you make tends reflect your influences, but as long as our end product is genuine, we feel confident in our process.

How important is it to stay true to the unique sound you created?

I think its Important to just keep growing. If we have a sound on this new record then that's great, but the next album could have a completely different sound, and we're ok with that. Whatever we come up with, it'll definitely be rooted in the songwriting.
