Bedknobs And Broomsticks: Enchanted Musical Edition

Bedknobs And Broomsticks

On DVD:
Tuesday, September 8, 2009
Running Time:
117 minutes

Fantastic, classic movie of magic, kids, and animated worlds. I loved this movie as a child and for me it has stood the test of time. I would recommend this to parents of children that love the magic of things like Harry Potter.

“Bedknobs And Broomsticks” has been released previously. It contained all the same bonus features as this release with the exception of “The Wizards Of Special Effects” (and the feature talking about Blu-Ray but really that is more of a sales pitch). But it had instead “The Worm Turns” & “The Vanishing Private” animated shorts starring Donald Duck, and 3 still frame galleries which are missing from this release. Truthfully the first release was much stronger than this one. The Wizards Of Special Effects started out alright focusing on the effects used in “Bedknobs And Broomsticks”; but then it turns into more of a commercial for “The Wizards Of Waverly Place”. However the movie is still great and most of the bonus features are decent. If you do not own it and you love magic and fantasy this is a must.

Bonus Features:
- Music Magic: The Sherman Brothers – An interview with the Sherman Brothers about the music with old photos & footage.

- “A Step In the Right Direction” Reconstruction – Almost a ½ hour of footage was cut from the movie to bring it under two hours running time, “A Step In The Right Direction” was not put back into this movie (other things have been added to this edition of the movie) because the photo footage was not found. Instead they use still photographs with the music tracks.

- David Tomlinso “Portobello Road” Recording Session

- Theatrical Trailers

- The Wizards Of Special Effects: Hosted By Jennifer Stone (Harper) From Disney’s Wizards Of Waverly Place – Walks you through the different types of processes they used to make “Bedknobs & Broomsticks” with behind the scenes photos. And how effects are today while trying to push Wizards Of Waverly Place on you.

- And Dylan & Cole Sprouse tell you about the wonderous magic that is Blu-Ray (you would think Disney harnessed the power of Blu-Ray all to themselves)
