Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Bonus Features

Deleted/Extended Scenes, Commentary, Featurettes, Gag Reel, and more.

Steve Rogers aka Captain America (played by Chris Evans) has been living in Washington DC since the events of NY. Working with S.H.I.E.L.D., the Captain is trying to keep a low profile while continuing to keep the world a safe place. But when Nick Fury (played by Samuel Lee Jackson) is attacked and shot dead in the apartment of Steve Rogers, S.H.I.E.L.D. has no other course but to make Captain America a fugitive. On the run from the group he once worked for, Steve Rogers and the Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson) get the help of the Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) in tracking down the Winter Soldier (played by Sebastian Stan), a man who is believed to be a ghost story. These three heroes must uncover a secret plot that has been able to keep the government in the dark on a horrible plot to take over the world and kill possible hundreds of millions of people. The world is once again in jeopardy and it's Captain America's duty to save it.

I got to say that I was impressed with this movies acting far more than I was with the first movie. Chris Evans finally seems to be getting the hang of being Captain America without making him cheesy. He's a guy out of time but someone that still holds onto his values that where from a different era in history but he's able to make it work. He has somewhat of a naive side to him while at the same time he's a smart guy that shouldn't ever be taken lightly. I liked how they gave Captain America a different suit to wear, though I really do like the stars and stripes suit from the first movie, this simple one is also cool. The character is growing more comfortable with being in a world that he don't fit in and he even makes a joke about it. Scarlett Johansson is also doing better with her character the Black Widow as she is starting to play a character who is someone hard to trust. She is a good opposite to Captain America, where he is also honest and straight forward in his actions, Black Widow will lie if she believes it calls for a lie and she is always hiding something and being sneaky. These two characters balance each other out and the two actors have good on screen chemistry.

Adding to the cast is Samuel Lee Jackson playing Nick Fury again and as always he does a great job with this character. He's someone you cant trust but he's also someone you know you can trust has the best interest of the world at heart. Samuel L. Jackson has had many chances to make this character grow and it shows in this movie Of course the break out role belongs to Sebastian Stan as he brings the character the Falcon to life. This character is the friend to Steve Rogers but he's also a hero in his own right. They did a great job at making his costume look both very cool and practical in use. Then there's two new characters getting introduce in the movie, Sharon Carter (played by Emily VanCamp) and Alexander Pierce (played by Robert Redford). Robert Redford's character gets more on screen time than Emily VanCamp does but both make their characters come to life. Robert with his strong yet creepy I got something to hide character and Emily's timid and yet strong agent.

The best part of this movie is the story. This time we get a story that has lots of fights, secret government plots, new characters getting introduced, some old ones getting more screen time, and new looks for the famous shield of Captain America. This this the movie that the first one should have been but it's good that the second is so much better than the first. There are a few plot holes that I thought should have been different but beyond me getting my comic book side into the movie, this was one of the best comic based films out. This is a comic book brought to life by having the different characters, some that seem unreal suddenly looking so good that they look like they could be real, the secret plots going on in the government firm, and all the action that seems to be non stop in this movie.

If you are wondering whether or not to buy the Blu Ray over the DVD version of this movie, go with the Blu Ray. Though I can't say what the DVD looks like, it could also be really good, but as for the Blu Ray, it's stunning in the quality. The detail that can be seen in everything is simply amazing. When the Winter Soldier is on screen, you can clearly see the moving parts of his bionic arm, the detail in the shield from being shiny to the battle damage, and the details of the actors skin can be seen. That's how clear and striking this movie is and why it just adds to making watching this movie even better. When it came to the quality in the picture and audio nothing was held back, both are clear, sharp, and precise in what they show and sound like. My one and only problem I have with this Blu Ray is that there was no added short film. In previous Marvel movie Blu Rays, there is a short film made just for the Blu Ray. They don't really add anything to the main movie plot nor do they give any new secrets away for future movies, but they do give a new entertain short to watch for all us comic book fans. Sadly, this is not added to the bonus features but what is, are deleted/extended scenes and a gag reel that I really enjoyed. Though I would have liked the gag reel to been longer and there to have been more deleted scenes but what we get are good.
