The Killer Inside Me

On Blu-Ray:

Running Time:
109 minutes

This is the second time for Affleck playing a Ford. He played Robert Ford in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Adapted from Jim Thompson’s novel The Killer Within Me takes place in the 1950’s in a small-town Texas community where Deputy Lou Ford (Casey Affleck) is asked to run small time prostitute Joyce (Jessica Alba) out of town. A routine task soon turns into a sadistic affair between Lou and Joyce releasing a sick childhood fetish that Lou had buried deep down in his subconscious. Before he knows it he’s in trouble and the only solution he can come up with is murder. Its not long before one murder covers up another and another and Lou finds himself neck deep in trouble. Can he outsmart an attorney (Simon Baker) whose on to him and avoid the traps being set for him by a Union Leader (Elias Koteas)? Also stars Kate Hudson and in a very small role Bill Pullman.

For the most part the definition aspect is there for the film. Everything has a sharpness to it and skin tones come in very well but the film suffers from a drab static that hangs around for a majority of the film that sucks the life out of the films color. Its simply bland in a majority of the scenes. Audio is fantastic bringing to life the atmosphere of the films settings from car exhausts to gunfire balancing out well against dialogue. Not the greatest BD presentation in the world but decent enough.

Bonus features add up to individual interviews on the making of the film from Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, and Jessica Alba plus a trailer.
