Artist: Bombay Bicycle Club Album: A Different Kind Of Fix Members: Jack Steadman, Jamie Maccoll, Suren De Saram, Ed Nash Genre: Rock Label: A&M / Octone Records Tracks: 12 Type: Digital Release Date: August 29, 2011 Rating: ( )Grade: B+ Bombay Bicycle Club was formed in London in 2005 and they were named after a chain of Indian restaurants in England. The band’s popularity rose tremendously after winning Virgin mobile’s “Road to V,” a band competition pitting all of London’s up and coming bands against each other. “A Different Kind of Fix” is their third album and it definitely does not disappoint. Their talents and skills are perfectly showcased on the album and justifies why they beat out all their competitors. Bombay Bicycle Club is a perfectly assembled band that fits perfectly together like a puzzle. Their sound is similar to Coldplay, but Bombay Bicycle Club has a darker vibe with 80’s music undertones. I thought all the instrumentals on this album were perfectly varied and the vocals were fitting for their style of music. My favorite song on the whole album was “Take the Right One” because it was more upbeat than the other songs and was fun to listen to. Overall, they made a good album, but there were some minor things they could have to done to make this a great album. Most of the songs were good to listen to if you are taking a nice long bath or just relaxing at home. I would not play this album at parties and I would have to be in a certain kind of mood to listen to it fully. However, I do recommend listening to this album at least once to see if it fits your style of music. For those reasons, I am giving this album a “B+.” |
