It’s that time of the year, the time when it’s the holidays, a time when people are happy, and the time when listening to all those cheesy holiday songs is not only ok but it’s expected. That is what I just did with the CD called Chanukah Fever by Mama Doni and wow what a lot of fun this CD was to listen to. These songs have a mixture of being both serious and comedic with a whole lot of energy in every single song. There’s a list of 14 tracks but the first track is the intro and that short intro sets the mood of the whole CD, fun.
I don’t care what you celebrate during the holidays, Chanukah Fever will put you in a festive spirit. Mama Doni, which her name is just fun to say and hear, is able to take a song that might song outdated and a little stale, and turn it into a song that sounds new, fresh, and fun. Her voice is good, there’s some moments that it wavers a little during the songs, but it’s just barely audible. She even does the other female voices in the songs, which are really funny, and it also turns this CD from a set of songs to almost being short little stories.
Inside there’s the booklet that has all the lyrics written down for all the songs, not that it’s needed because the vocals are clearly heard and understood on every song. With each song that played I kept thinking that it was the one I liked the most on the CD but when the next song played I would say the same thing. I did this for all 14 tracks, very rare that I have that much fun listening to the whole CD. Fun is what I got from the songs, all the energy, the joyful lyrics, and the way that Mama Doni has mixed the voices, the feelings, the comedy all into songs that makes for a fun holiday set of songs instead of these depressing songs that seem to be taking over the radio for the holidays. Chanukah Fever is how holiday songs should be, with the sound, the beats, and most importantly the fun and joyful feelings it gives when they play.
