Artist: Final Gravity Album: Self-Titled Genre: Rock Label: Inebriated Tracks: 13 Type: LP Release Date: November 3, 2009 Discs: 1 Rating: () Grade: C Umm…okay. I’m not really sure what to think about this record. On the one hand, you have to admire what must be a “home & friends” recorded album. It’s not easy to handle recording, production and mixing responsibilities by yourself and if they did that on here, that would be pretty darn impressive. On the other hand, if this isn’t a home recording…well, then it’s not the best professional recording that I’ve ever heard. Anyway, on to the music. I think these guys are trying valiantly to be prog rock, but something here is missing. Perhaps it goes back to the question of the mix, but certain instruments here seem to be rather thin and weak. Beyond that, the vocals didn’t really click with me at all…and vocals are a key part of why bands do or do not make it into my “circle of trust.” All in all, this isn’t a terrible album…just a rather dull one. I was bored once I started listening to it and you are to be commended if you can make it through one sitting without wanting to go do something else. Check this out at your own risk of boredom. |
