Artist: Robert J. Kral Album: Green Lantern: First Flight - Soundtrack to the Animated Original Movie Genre: Soundtrack/Theater Label: New Line Records/La-La Land Records Tracks: 20 Type: LP Release Date: August 25, 2009 Discs: 1 Rating: () Grade: B Soundtracks can be interesting affairs, especially when you haven’t seen the film from which a soundtrack is taken. I’ve seen bits and pieces of Green Lantern: First Flight, but not the whole thing. It seems to be a solid movie, with a great voice cast and a good story to introduce both Hal Jordan and his green alter ego to audiences unfamiliar with the Lantern saga. As a listener, I was unfamiliar with Robert J. Kral’s previous work, but his score here is quite good. The music itself consists of both more traditional orchestral-based compositions with electronic flourishes here and there. It’s a fitting mix, as portions of Green Lantern’s story takes place strange locales throughout outer space. The music is appropriately epic and moving, as befits a story on galactic intrigue and destiny At 20 tracks, this bad boy is just a hair over an hour long. It’s a decent amount of music for your money. Speaking of that, there are two editions of this soundtrack that you can buy: the mp3 version on Amazon or the physical one from La-La Land Records. That edition is limited to only 1500 copies; you might want to get a move on if you want that one. |
