Artist: Piers Faccini Album: My Wilderness Label: Six Degrees Records Tracks: 13 Type: LP Release Date: October 11, 2011 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: A+ Piers Faccini does it again with his latest album My Wilderness. Faccini’s acoustic musings on this album are very Dylan-esque with some gospel chorus’, as well as that very gloomy Jose Gonzales type vocal delivery that seems very subtle but manages to convey a wide range of delivery on both high and low registers which allows perfection in change ups and meshes well with the mostly moody sounding album. This is another artist that I feel can only be described with “No Word Wasted”. Every track on the album has something to say, and Faccini’s folkish edge allows those words to be conveyed in such a great storytelling fashion. Track 2, The Beggar & The Thief could have had its words torn directly from a storybook. Each word is descriptive against the backdrop of a world Faccini has created making it easy to just sit back, close your eyes and imagine this world into being within your mind. Track 3, A New Morning, is where you’ll find that bluesy gospel feel on the album at its most potent. Faccini displaya fabulous range and a perfect grasp on gospel blues creating a captivatingly chilly track that will beg to be thrown on a loop. Of the 13 tracks on the album I wouldn’t throw even one out. Its very broody music which, if you’re a fan of musicians like Amos Lee, Jose Gonzales, Fionn Regan, you’ll quickly find Piers Faccini’s music very endearing. As always final judgment is yours, but I urge you to head over to Faccini’s official webpage or look him up on youtube, if he‘s not already an artist you know. Enjoy. |
