Title: Let There Be Rock Edition: Limited Collector's Edition Genre: Live Music Starring: AC/DC Director: Eric Mistler, Eric Dionysius Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures Runtime: 95 mins Release Date: June 7, 2011 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 2 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: B+ Let’s just get this out of the way up front: If you’re an AC/DC fan, you’re going to want to get this release. This 1979, 13-song concert filmed in Paris was one of Bon Scott’s final performances before he died in 1980. As a documentation of AC/DC’s power as a live band, Let There Be Rock makes a powerful case for their supremacy in the hallowed halls of Rock. They’re a force to be reckoned with here: raw, energetic, and incredibly tight as a five-piece band. While Bon Scott does an impressive job as their frontman, the show belongs to Angus Young. The man is a whirling dervish of sound and fury, twisting, contorting and flailing himself across the stage, somehow managing to pull off his solos and riffs with perfection. Not that any of this is news to anyone who’s an AC/DC fan, but as someone who was born only a few months before this concert was filmed, I never got a chance to witness this incarnation of the band in person.
