Title: Clerks II Edition: 2-Disc Special Edition Genre: Comedy Starring: Rosario Dawson, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson Director: Kevin Smith Studio: Weinstein Runtime: 97 Minutes Release Date: February 3, 2009 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 2 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: C DID YOU KNOW? Kevin Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith is the little girl that Dante waves to in the window of the restaurant. Clerks was a brilliant near masterpiece of witty indie comedy. It debuted a writer and director that would become a modern cult legend. Unfortunately, like George Lucas and Star Wars, the budget constraints put on Kevin Smith for the original proved to be a crutch rather than a thorn as this over-the-top sequel doesn't capture any of the original magic. QUALITY: BONUS FEATURES: The movie is a disappointment with only a handful of truly funny scenes. Filled with music montages (even a dancing number) proved that a larger budget was not necessary for this movie. The movie goes into lower than low brow slapsticky territory all too often and uncomfortably attempts to throw heart into the mix. The too short cameos are not enough to save this one as you would probably be more entertained watching the movie with Kevin Smith's and Jason Mewes' commentary drowning out the actual dialogue. |
