WAS IT WORTH IT?

Channing Tatum broke his nose during one of the fight scenes.

Fighting is an interesting movie.  Not interesting in the deep, provacative way that makes a movie accessible.  No, it's interesting in a way that seems like it was just a few tweaks away from being a good movie.  Instead, what you are left with is a slightly boring and empty drama about fighting...with very little fighting.

QUALITY:
Good.  The picture is crisp throughout but the sound is a bit staticy in the quieter parts.

BONUS FEATURES:
Digital Copy, deleted scenes.

The bonus features are crap, aside from the inclusion of the digital copy.  The menus are standard, nothing exciting there.  The picture quality is good but the audio fails.  The movie itself is just short of OK.  The fighting scenes are ok, however little there are.  The acting on the part of Terrence Howard is near brilliant and far out of the realm of this movie.  Channing Tatum overacts a little bit as the "quiet" struggling drifter who is turned to underground fighting by Howard's hustler.  The worst parts of the movie turn out to be just about every scene that zulay Henao is in.  She isn't necessarily a bad actress but her scenes, for some reason, fall so flat that it drags the entire movie down.  The chemistry between her and Tatum is completely non-existent and not believable.  I foud myself struggling to stay awake during the short scenes between the two.

Another issue with the movie is that there is no REAL antagonist to speak of so "rooting" for the protagonist isn't exactly easy.  The ending fight scene turns mainly into a wrestling match and smashing of set pieces.  If you are looking for a good underground fighting movie, buy Fight Club.  If you are looking for a washed down versions that struggles to stay coherent, then perhaps Fighting is for you.
