Title: Forrest Gump Edition: Sapphire Series Starring: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright Penn, Gary Sinise, Sally Field, Mykelti Williamson Director: Robert Zemeckis Studio: Paramount Runtime: 141 Minutes Release Date: November 3, 2009 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 2 MPAA Rating: Rating: () Grade: A UNCREDITED Kurt Russell has revealed that he was the voice of Elvis Presley in the film, despite not getting credit. This is the third release in Paramount's "Sapphire Series" after Braveheart and Gladiator. Assuming these are reserved for "Best Picture" winners, it's only fitting to make Forrest Gump the next release in what is turning out to be a must have collection. QUALITY: BONUS FEATURES: The bonus features were amusing...about 15 years ago. Now that the technology is commonplace or, in most places, surpassed, it's not quite as entertaining to watch how they did it. The commentary could have been better were they to include Tom Hanks who is usually fun to listen to candidly. But, depite that, the real standout point here is the amazing transfer. This movie has always looked great but the Sapphire series pushes it to it's limits and I just don't see it getting better than this short of watching an exact replica enacted live before your eyes. |
