Disney’s Blu-Rays have been impressive as they have completely captured what the format is all about; crisp images, lossless sound and impeccable bonus features all featured in the highest definition possible. When this title was announced in their BD lineup, I was somewhat perplexed as to why they would choose a tween made-for-TV movie to possible hamper their near perfect record.
QUALITY:
Since Disney Channel is not featured in high definition, the need to film this movie in high definition was not needed so the footage was upconverted from what the filming actually was, ultimately taking away from the quality of the picture. The picture isn’t as bright and beautiful as it should be but it is still good for what this release is. The sound, however, is mind-blowing. The songs, despite any of their sequel missteps, shine through with such clarity, you would think that they were filmed in surround sound with 20 mics.
BONUS FEATURES:
Sing-along (which was an entirely different release for the first movie), karaoke, behind-the-scenes, music videos and bloopers don’t make for many bonus features considering the slew of specials that aired on the Disney Channel leading up the this event of a movie.
