No skits, no comedy, just serious (well as serious as you can get with them) interviews with the Monty Pythons. The first disc takes you back showing their lives a children, how they grew up and what they were like. The influences and inspirations are revealed; their early attempts at comedy, how they all met, and finally trying to get on TV. There are old photos, audio clips from some of their early performances, video clips, past interviews and more to flesh out what is already a great documentary.

Then if you want even more you have disc 2 that is solely dedicated to their American success. From being played on small radio stations, their cd’s being handed off between friends, and finally finding a place on PBS their journey wasn’t all that easy. But they did have fun as they traveled and you get to see some of the video footage that was taken. Along with that you have interviews with Luke Wilson, Jimmy Fallon, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Hank Azaria, and many others.

To not have really any skits involved (other than old ones they show clips of for demonstrations) these documentaries are actually pretty amusing. The amount of old footage & photos, and the in-depth interviews that are included are also impressive. I have read that these documentaries are bonus features on “The Complete Monty Python’s Flying Circus Collector’s Edition Megaset”. But if you did not buy that and don’t really have the money too, I would encourage you to grab this one if you are huge fan.
