Title: The Hangover II Genre: Action/Adventure, Comedy Starring: Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms Director: Todd Phillips Studio: Warner Bros. Runtime: 102 Minutes Release Date: December 6, 2011 Discs: 2 MPAA Rating: Rating: () Grade: A+ Factoid: Mel Gibson was supposed to play the tattoo artist, but the idea was later dropped following protests from the cast and crew. He was replaced by Liam Neeson. Director Todd Phillips later wanted to reshoot Neeson's scene, but Neeson was unavailable to return, as he was filming Wrath of the Titans. The scene was subsequently reshot with Nick Cassavetes in the role. ~ IMDB Its been awhile since I’ve watched the first Hangover movie and that being said I feel like one of the characters from either picture, I can’t remember a damn thing. That being said The Hangover II works fantastic as a stand alone or a companion piece to the first film, either way your going to laugh your ass off and have a good time. So how is the Blu-Ray you ask? QUALITY: Todd Phillips treats The Hangover II like an action film providing the picture with that early to mid-nineties film texture and an above average audio presentation for a comedy. Its clean and definition never suffers, but color sways through the film with a natural progression of being in and out of natural shadow which makes skin tones feel real, the city streets that much more a character, and total feeling of immersion as the Wolfpack roam Bangkok. Line definition seems to flourish in this atmosphere and close up shots of the actors reveal every minutia from sweat to facial hair to pores. Phillips simply gives the film so much character in vision, story, and pace that trying to remember the first Hangover film almost feels unimportant. Of course I’ll have to go back and rent the first one to see if this crazy genius has been there the whole time. Until then, I can’t suggest The Hangover II enough for a great at home cinematic experience. BONUS FEATURES: Pictures: |
