Its been awhile since I’ve watched the first Hangover movie and that being said I feel like one of the characters from either picture, I can’t remember a damn thing. That being said The Hangover II works fantastic as a stand alone or a companion piece to the first film, either way your going to laugh your ass off and have a good time. So how is the Blu-Ray you ask?

QUALITY:
Don’t let the opening sequences fool you when it comes to The Hangover II. Sure, any cameraman would love to get a wide shot of crystal blue ocean waters surrounding a lush island spotted with lovely green vegetation against a light blue skyline, but I’ll be honest, wide out shots tend to be the mother of all poor shots when it comes to HD. Grain becomes a factor here, sometimes colors lose their zap a bit, and definition becomes an issue the further back you pull on a scene. That seemed to be my only real issue with the BD release of Hangover II.

Todd Phillips treats The Hangover II like an action film providing the picture with that early to mid-nineties film texture and an above average audio presentation for a comedy. Its clean and definition never suffers, but color sways through the film with a natural progression of being in and out of natural shadow which makes skin tones feel real, the city streets that much more a character, and total feeling of immersion as the Wolfpack roam Bangkok. Line definition seems to flourish in this atmosphere and close up shots of the actors reveal every minutia from sweat to facial hair to pores. Phillips simply gives the film so much character in vision, story, and pace that trying to remember the first Hangover film almost feels unimportant. Of course I’ll have to go back and rent the first one to see if this crazy genius has been there the whole time. Until then, I can’t suggest The Hangover II enough for a great at home cinematic experience.

He interviews Morgan Spurlock, J.J. Abrams, and other familiar and not so familiar faces. It is absolutely a great supplemental addition to the release.
