Dark comedies are difficult to pull off. Finding that right mix between horror and hilarity with a decent plot is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Unfortunately for Jennifer’s Body, we couldn’t find the needle…

Megan Fox stars as Jennifer, a possessed teen who goes around her small town taking the lives of high school boys to feed her ever growing hunger. Her best friend is the plain Jane, Anita “Needy” Lesnicky (Amanda Seyfried), who attempts to stop the deadly blood bath. Things go a little too far when Jennifer starts to target Needy’s boyfriend, and the term BFF no longer applies.

All the hotness in the world couldn’t save Fox from crashing. Sure, she’s great to look at and all but that’s about it. There isn’t much to her character besides the whole killing aspect. The film is filled to the brim with cheesy dialogue and unfunny humor. If you do laugh at all, it’ll be at the fact of how horribly bad the film is or the most awkward sex scene in the history of film, I’m not quite sure on that one.

To top things off, Jennifer’s Body isn’t scary at all. There are no jumpy moments or anything. If something were to be scary, the moment would be ruined by some dumbfounded one liner that leaves you shaking your head, wondering what they were thinking. There is plenty of blood and guts though so if you’re the gross-out fan type, then you might get a kick out of that.

So we have the hotness of Megan Fox (and yes, the film definitely is aware of that) and some gore, but that’s all. Jennifer’s Body is not scary. It’s not funny. It’s pretty much not anything. Fox should just stick to battling giant transforming space robots. That seems to fit her just fine.
