Title: Post Grad Genre: Comedy Starring: Alexis Bledel, Carol Burnett, Zach Gilford, Jane Lynch, J.K. Simmons, Rodrigo Santoro, Micheal Keaton Director: Vicky Jenson Studio: Fox Atomic Runtime: 89 Minutes In Theatres: August 21, 2009 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: D+ Ryden Malby (Alexis Bledel) has just graduated from College and, as planned, is looking to land her dream job at a publishing company and get her life started. To bad life doesn’t always pan out the way you hope. Seemingly unemployable, blind to love, and trapped living with her weird family Ryden has to get it together and figure out what to do when life throws you a curveball. Number one Alexis Bledel cannot act. She can’t emote, her dialogue sounds read, and no matter what you do she always looks like a child playing dress up in a grown up world (okay that last one isn’t really a skill fault but still). So if your lead isn’t great its probably going to be important that you surround her with a great cast and a well written script. Check this one off under the negative column as well. Does the film want to be a love story, a coming of age story, a story about family? What? There is just so much going on and the character of Ryden Malby is such a screw up and a jerk that there is no room for redemption, investment, point. The only real saving grace, and not by much is Michael Keaton and to a lesser degree the great Carol Burnette. Weather or not things pan out for her character you simply dislike her and her stupid decisions. What makes things worse is her best friend Adam Davies (played by Zach Gilford) is her proverbial Ducky; the poor best friend whose in love with her but is shunned completely. Gilford played his part so well your just charmed and invested in his plight and it only makes you hate Ryden even more. Probably not what writer Kelly Fremon had in mind. In the end though the film is too annoying, try’s to hard to be cute, and sets up plot points that become moot by the films end. For me, this is a definite rental (if I didn’t know better) or a rainy day, can’t find anything better, its on TV kind of film. |

Post Grad
Fun movie to watch. It has some good laughs. I don't understand why anyone would give it a D or F rating. It's still way better than some other lame comedies out there.
Post Grad
I was amazed at the cleverness of the derby car (never would have dreamed of making a car with a casket). Lots of good laughs during the entire movie. I really enjoyed it.
Just a Time Pass Movie!
It was unexpectedly funny and the ending was very predictable. Not too much of a story but good time pass movie. The characters were very well put together and everyone did a great job to bring the character out of them. A solid C movie.
I enjoyed it
Although i didnt think that the movie was great, I did enjoy watching it. It kept me entertained. It had a few laughs and I thought it had a fairly interesting story line. I would have not given it an A, but surely it deserved more than a D+. This was a movie that you can see with your familly or simply serve as a chic flic. Again, I enjoyed the movie and give it a B.
Enjoyable
Enjoyed Post Grad...light and had some laughs throughout the movie. The acting was very good especially Michael Keaton and Carol Burnett. Would rate it a solid B.

Enjoyed this movie.Thought it was light and had laughs throughout the movie. Thanks SF. I'd give it a B+.
I enjoyed it
I really enjoyed the movie and it certainly did not warrant a "D" rating. It had romance and comedy all throughout the movie. The brother's character was fantastic! Good movie
Not a D or an F movie
I liked the movie and we laughed quite often. Michael Keaton was a pathetic dad, but you had to love him.
Post Grad is the real "Funny People"
I had more fun here than with Adam Sandler's "Funny People". It's hilarious with the disfunctional family. About Ryden being a little girl playing dress up in adult clothes, most college grads are that way. They are 22 and wearing a monkey suit to job interviews. And Bledel "reading" her lines, well it's that way in real life too. A lot of college grads "rehearse" their lines that they almost come out like reading during job interviews. Enough of that, Bledel didn't seem quit fit for the character, not the brainy type with their entire life all mapped out. She does seem more the type that would take her shirt off as soon as her neighbor offered a drink. Speaking of which, another one that didn't fit the character is the neighbor. A young handsome movie exec is living alone(?) and homesick(?). And I wont even go into the Jessica Bard character, except for she is too old for a recent college grad unless she had spent the last decade in college. Otherwise, everybody else is funny and the story is funny and for the most part very enjoyable.
Cute but just okay
Wait for the DVD

Enjoyed this movie...think it should rate higher than a D. Must hit home for those trying to enter the job market. Haven't seen Carol Burnett in a long time and I think she did well with her role.
