Show: The Nostradamus Files Genre: Other Studio: A&E Home Video Runtime: 188 Minutes Release Date: October 27, 2009 Format: DVD Discs: 2 Rating: () Grade: B+ History Channel is packaging two separate specials on Nostradamus together for the first time and at the extremely generous offer of only $17.99 (@Amazon), individually the set would cost you $30 so right off the bat the set has already proven itself a smart buy. Conspiracy theorists and Oddity fanatics should eat this set up which includes not only The Lost Book of Nostradamus and Nostradamus 2012 but as a bonus feature a third documentary titled Nostradamus 500 years later. As a consumer you’ve got to be happy with that. Like all things seemingly science fiction you have to come at this collection with an open mind. I’ve seen both the main features at least two or three times a piece; watching them both once they aired and then reviewing one and owning the other later. There is a lot of interesting if not far reaching idea’s here to toss around but seeing as how the programs are similar, even the bonus feature program, your going to be going over he same ideologies and theories more then once, just put in different ways. You’ve got theories on Nostradamus and the Mayan’s, the Bible Code, and other such doomsday foreshadowing equations. Its really all interesting stuff and as long as you pace yourself with the programs you can cross reference between the two feature programs and the third bonus program. There is an audio discrepancy at the beginning of the second feature, Nostradamus 2012, in which the narrators voice comes in and out soft and then loud but the guest speakers voices are leveled out perfectly. Bonus features include the third program titled Nostradamus 500 Years Later is a full length program. Both discs come with additional scenes, some of which also have the same audio problem. The Lost Book contains a little over 10 minutes of additional footage and the 2012 a about 14 minutes of additional footage. All together this is a phenomenal package at a great price and if you’re a history buff or just enjoy the strange and bizarre this is right up your alley. Enjoy. |
