OMFG!!!!!!! “The State” is finally released!!! I was a huge fan when it aired on MTV and ever since have been waiting for it to come out. I have subjected friends to having to listen to me describe the skits and watching the bad, grainy clips I was able to find. But now I actually have the whole series and will force them all to watch it with me (insert evil laugh). I have of course already sat down to watch, and while some of the skits or topics are a little dated it is still just as hilarious as I remember.

I am sure that many of you out there have never heard of this show and if that is the case you have probably actually seen some of the cast in other things (ex. Reno 911 & Viva Variety). But “The State” isn’t like those shows. It is more on par with “Mad TV” (skit show but not live like SNL). There are reoccurring characters like Barry & Levon the groovy pudding lovers, the misunderstood teen Doug, and Louie who dips his balls in things. Then there are skits about eating Muppets, PMS, notebook art, monkey torture, and the cast even tells you a little bit about themselves, has a message for Chelsea Clinton, and runs a contest. If you have never seen it I strongly recommend it to anyone that likes sketch comedy (might also help if you were in your teens or 20’s during the 90’s).

For the fans already out there, this release has even more to offer in way of bonus features.

Commentary
Interviews & Outtakes
Pilot Episode (this has some skits we have already seen)
Special Appearances (The Jon Stewart Show, “Shut Up & Laugh, Panama City”, Spring Break Safety Tips, & MTV Christmas Party Video)
Promos (Miserable Crap, Conversation, Black To Black, Contest, Next On The State, & Christmas)
Unaired Sketches from the Pilot and season 1-3
