Title: James and the Giant Peach Genre: Animation, Family, Kids Starring: Paul Terry, Joanna Lumley, Pete Postlethwaite, Simon Callow, Richard Dreyfuss Director: Henry Selick Studio: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Runtime: 79 minutes Release Date: August 3, 2010 Discs: 2 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: B+ I have fond memories of watching James and the Giant Peach years ago back when I owned it on VHS. You can imagine then, how excited I was to get my hands on the Blu-ray. Let the childhood memories commence... Based on Roald Dahl's book by the same name, the film follows the story of James Henry Trotter, a young boy who dreams of moving to New York City and away from his evil aunts. One day he is given some magical grubs that cause an enormous peach to grown and soon it becomes his ticket out of that wretched place. QUALITY: BONUS FEATURES: The only new bonus freature is the interactive game. Everything else has already been released with the special edition DVD in 2000. Unlike the film, these special features have not be digitally remastered. The Blu-ray edition also includes the DVD as well so you can take the film with you on the go. Overall, James and the Giant Peach is a classic Walt Disney film that everyone will enjoy. It's too bad there hasn't really been anything new added to the Blu-ray over previous versions but it looks great. Definitely pick this one up; it'll bring back some great memories or create new ones. |
