One Piece Season Five, Voyage Two is a season that I’d covered in the past but still find it a fun ride through the One Piece Universe where we discover a few back-story’s about our Straw Hat crew (namely Copper and Zoro) and get to know Robin a bit more.

In this chapter of the One Piece saga we find the Straw Hats enjoying a couple of relaxing first episodes. In one they only have to worry about collecting food and not causing the locals (an army of monkey’s) to get aggravated. It’s pretty much a Chopper and Robin episode.

In the second episode Luffy pulls a salesman from the ocean while fishing. The salesman offers just about everything you could think of and tries to charge outrageous prices for them. Unfortunately he flips out when he realizes where he is and who he’s surrounded by and jumps ship, leaving all of his merchandise behind.

We meet a few more interesting characters along the way but the collection doesn’t start to hit its arc (The Rainbow Mist Arc) until the few closing chapters. It’s here where, no doubt, Voyage Three will kick in the meat of the story.

Included in the set is the awesome Marathon Feature which allows viewers to watch the show in its entirety and have the episodes pieces together without having to see the intro or end credits several times after each episode. You also get a behind the scenes featurette titled On The Boat, plus Staff Commentary. A bit of a rehash release but awesome all the same.

One Piece Season Four, Voyage Five finds the straw hat crew in disarray as Robin has turned herself into the CP9 in exchange for the safety of the crew and rushed away onboard a floating sea train, the storm of all storms is about to strike and Luffy and Zoro are lost somewhere in the danger zone of the city, sure to be washed away by the raging sea. To make matters worse Usopp is captured and being held hostage by the CP9 aboard the floating sea train and Nami and Chopper are wandering around hopelessly looking for members of their crew.

Not a whole lot happens in this chapter of One Piece. We come in just as Robin is taken aboard the sea train and whisked away by the CP9. From then on the crew must pull together and find some way of chasing after the sea train during one of the fiercest storms on record without their trusty ship The Going Merry, which has been lost to them.

Story is limited to a handful of fight sequences as the crew attempt their rescue and come across some hurdles. We get a glimpse at Robin’s past and see some bad guys with really cool powers. Other then that it’s just a frantic chase and a half dozen battles. Lots of humor, some awesome fights, but no real evolution to the story, but fans of the show know that some installments can be more filler then actual thriller. Still worth checking out.

Bonus features include the usual Marathon Play option, Commentaries, textless opening and closing songs, and trailers. You also get two behind the scenes features, one with Colleen Clickenbeard (Luffy) that was a little disappointing. I was really looking forward to her doing a brief performance of Luffy via live interview. Not much by way of vital information but a quick little interview for kicks.

Season Four, Voyage Three is a pretty hectic set of episodes for the Strawhat crew as well as for fans who will be on the edge of their seat. Luffy and the crew have docked at a ship building city called Water 7 where they need to repair the Going Merry. They get some pretty troubling news there. So troublesome in fact that it causes a rift between some of the characters in the crew, one so large this may be the last time we see a few of them.

Adding to the troubles the Strawhat crew find they get swindled when they convert all their gold to cash, come face to face with a notorious family, find themselves being blamed for a crime so hated by the people of Water 7 that they find themselves up against the whole city. This arc of the One Piece saga spells nothing but troubles for Luffy and the gang.

Again, if you’ve come this far, invested yourself in the characters, you’re going to find their plight a nail biting edge of your seat journey that, assuming you haven’t seen these episodes elsewhere, will shock and surprise you. Well known characters will suddenly become bolder, familiar faces will be in danger of disappearing, and you even get a peek at a new crewmate. It’s the usual action and adventure from One Piece but twice as suspenseful and leaving you hungry for more.
