Ben 10 has become the world famous fighter that protects the universe from evil aliens but the fame has come at a price. Becoming famous has made it hard for some of his friends to be around him and it has painted a target on him for all the aliens in the universe. However Ben has someone from his past come back into his life causing him and the team to be caught by a evil alien plant.

SEASON 2 OF BEN 10:
This DVD features episodes 21-30 of the cartoon Ben 10 Ultimate Alien titled The Return of Heatblast, though it’s really the first half of season 2 of the show. Has anything changed for Ben since the ending of season 1? No, not really. Each episode has a different alien/menace that is trying to cause some sort of trouble and it takes Ben and his friends Gwen and Kevin to stop them. Ben will use his Ultimatrix watch to give himself the powers and looks of some of the most powerful aliens in the universe to fight the villains.
This cartoon is all over the place and yet it don’t give any real format as to what’s going on. There’s no story flow that I saw in the episodes. Each one is a story in itself where it’s not picking up a long flowing story and not starting one either. The only actual ongoing story that it has would be the characters of Ben, Gwen, and Kevin and the aliens that Ben turns into. If I choose to skip to the last episode first and then watch the third, eighth, second, and so on, I wouldn’t have to worry about getting confused as to what’s going on because nothing would be going on other than Ben turning into an alien to fight an alien.

Nothing is being changed up in this show that I found to be interesting and having each episode almost the same just made me bored with it pretty quickly. I can see how kids would like it because of the aliens, the ships, and the fighting, but with the use of the same aliens most of the time and having the same plot of bad guy has plan, Ben finds out about it, they fight, Ben almost looses, Gwen and Kevin help out, and then Ben wins in the end, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien The Return of Heatblast was a show that I could have watched in 3 episodes and been done with it.

Ben 10 returns in an all new regeneration of his previous show, Alien Force, with Ultimate Alien. This time the Omnitrix has gathered the most potent forms of his alien incarnations. Does this mean this is the end for Ben 10. The show has gradually moved from Ben being a young Boy who somehow stumbles across the Omnitrix and discovers that his Grandfather is part of an intergalactic policing force to his adjustment to the powers of the Omnitrix and his willingness to take on evil head on. With his alien forms at their peak power it seems like the show has nowhere left to go? Or does Man of Action have a trump card up their sleeve?

Ben 10 has millions of fans that have been following the growth of Ben Tennyson, literally, as he’s grown from a boy to a young adult. In this chapter of Ben’s life the cat is out of the bag. Filmed by a young fan Ben is exposed as the superhero that he is and now that everyone knows he’s become a quick celebrity, but with exposure comes vulnerability as his family comes under attack by old enemies. This 10 episode collection follows Ben in his new found stardom as well as introduces us to a new danger by the name of Aggregor, a powerful alien who has collected other aliens with the plan of draining them of their power. So to make matters worse for Ben and his crew they must take on old enemies as well as new ones while trying to save the captured aliens and possibly their world.

This seems to be the first installment of a new chapter so the action’s not as Ben 10 like as it should be and the stories, sometimes, tend to try to act as stand alones without much of an ending as they come to a close. Still, overall, this installment was entertaining and a good peek at future things to come for Ben as he continues his battle against Aggregor and anyone else who stands in his way.

Bonus features are pretty weak. Making of the Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Video Game. Its obvious the introduction of new spin off’s to the show as it progresses is a chance to create more characters, more toys, more opportunity to milk this cash cow for what it is, and that’s just good business. However, product placements as a bonus feature just seems bad hat. The only other feature on the disc is your usual Alien Database. I’ve never considered them to be much of a bonus, maybe the kids would love to see them, once or twice, but as bonus features go I put these little profiles up there next to trailers, maybe even below trailers. That’s it in a nutshell. As always final judgment is yours. Enjoy.

Nothing can be any worse for a guy than being allergic to girls but that’s exactly the situation that Yukinari finds himself in. Every time a girl talks to him or gets near him he becomes really flustered. Though when a girl actually touches him he breaks out in hives all over and will sometimes faint. That is until he gets whisked away to another world called Seiren, a world populated almost all by girls. This is where he meets Miharu, the only girl that he can get close to, talk to, and is actually able to touch him without causing him any sort of problems. Now, only if he could get his next door neighbor Kirie from beating him senseless every time she thinks he is being a pervert.

This animation is one of the oddest that I’ve seen in a while. Ok, not really so much as odd as more dirty. Not x-rated or pornographic dirty but dirty in the way of topless girls running around a lot with a lot of bouncing involved. The plot has a little potential to it, with a guy that likes girls but just can’t get near them or touch them but when the theme became how many girls can be thrown in the show showing as much skin as possible or wearing the skimpiest clothes they can, I started to lose interest.

I really couldn’t get into liking this animation. Sure I know as a guy that I’m supposed to be ingrained to like watching girls wearing near to nothing, walking around in their underwear, and being naked but it could be because they are just drawings, it could be that I found the show a little trite, or it could be that it made me feel a little perverted for watching it. Most of the plots of the episodes are the same, Yukinari finds himself in a situation that has him looking for or having to help the girl Miharu while also getting beat up by the girl Kirie.
Each character in this show was just something I was not really getting. I know that cartoon characters are not supposed to react like a real human being but for the most part there is still some sort of similarities between the two. However in this animation these characters act nothing like anything like an actual person. First there’s the main character who starts off the show by being a peeping tom. Ok, so that part is real and actually happens, but then having the girl next door who he is peeping on still be friends with him and actually like, when she’s not beating him up all the time, is not one of those real life reaction. Then there’s the Miharu who is this alien girl, alright, her I can pass over on the way she acts for being an alien, for all I know that’s supposed to be how she is supposed to act on Seiren. But the main one is Kazuharu, a guy who is the most perverted guy on the show. He runs around groping all the girls, pulling up or down their clothes, and trying to make them his sexual slaves.

Not only do I not get how this guy is running around doing this but I don’t get why none of the girls or other guys are doing anything to stop him. Sure Kirie beats him up afterwards but then she goes right back to talking to him. The other girls just seem to take it as he does it and then continues along with what they were doing. It’s reasons like this that I started to find this show a little disturbing and lost any interest that I might have had in it.

As for the rest of the show, well it’s a odd thing also. Like the animation is done both well and poorly. The detail given to the girls, on making them look good and having them bounce around, is good but the rest of the show is just mediocre at best. It looks like the work was put into making the girls look good but anything else was secondary. There’s also the plot lines that just seem to be about these girls and how much trouble they can get in or cause for Yukinari. At times there are some funny lines and moments in the show but not nearly enough to make me like the show enough to say it’s worth watching.

Ben Tennyson continues his search with the help of the Omnitrix, his cousin Gwen, and his former rival Kevin. The trio begin vol. 2 in search of Ben and Gwen’s cousin Ken (yes they rhyme) and stumble upon their Grandpa’s trail and yet another alien conspiracy to take over the Earth but that’s only the beginning.

While I am still disappointed with the releases of the Ben 10 Alien Force for their meager collection of episodes per volume their almost bleak bonus features Vol. 2 does offer a pretty cool bonus feature in DNA of a scene. IN the bonus feature kids get to watch a scene from one episode that mixes live action with sketches and even pairs dialogue with snapshots of the actual script for the episode. Its short but it’s a pretty exciting bonus feature that will get kids excited and maybe interested in learning to draw. Other then that this volume gets another low grade for simply being bare carrying four episodes with a complete run time of 88 minutes. Cartoon Network…you could do so much better, especially during these trying economic times. Here’s still hoping for a complete season one box set with more bonus features. Enjoy.

Ben 10 Returns in all new adventures in Ben 10 Alien Force. Its been 5 years since Ben has used the Omnitrix but when Grandpa Max goes missing he’s forced to put it on again. This time Ben discovers all new aliens he can transform into and all new enemies he must pit their powers against.

For some reason Cartoon Network is really offering the bare minimum on their recent offerings. Ben 10 Vol. 1 features 5 complete episodes and a bonus feature which offers no interactivity at all and nothing more. Seeing as how cable offers up reruns of the show so often and the current state of home delivery for rentals, Cartoon Network isn’t doing itself many favors with this package. The episodes are in fine quality in both visual and audio but parents looking to find good value for their money may find it better spent elsewhere and waiting ut the studio for a complete series set, hopefully with better bonus features.
