The title for the newest film in Legendary’s Monsterverse has been revealed as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Warner Bros. announced. The film is a sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, which saw the two titans battling it out for supremacy. According to the official synopsis for the upcoming film, the two titans will be teaming up together to go up against a colossal new threat.
“This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will release in theaters on March 15, 2024 with Adam Wingard returning as director. The film stars Dan Stevens with Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle returning in addition to franchise newcomers Fala Chen, Alex Ferns and Rachel House.
