Pixar’s Inside Out 2 is coming to theaters June 2024, and it’s bringing with it a whole new range of emotions. Anxiety, voiced by Stranger Things‘ Maya Hawke, makes her anxious debut in the new teaser trailer for the animated film.
In the sequel, Riley is now turning 13 and with her birthday comes a demolition and rebuilding of her emotional command center, complete with all new emotions. Just when Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust think they have everything running smoothly, they’re overwhelmed by Anxiety, literally. “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” says director Kelsey Mann. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.”
Inside Out 2 sees the return of Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger with Tony Hale replacing Bill Hader as Fear, and Liza Lapira replacing Mindy Kaling as Disgust. Judging by the new poster seen below, Anxiety looks to be just one of a handful of new emotions set to make their debut in the sequel.
