NUMBER TWO (haha)

The Southland - Influence of Geography | Dropkick Murphys - The Warrior's Code | Dope - American Apathy | Joy Williams - Genesis | The Fall of Troy - Doppelganger | Mobius Band - The Loving Sounds of Static | Rooftop Suicide Club - Always Like This| The Like - Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking? | Fatty Koo - House of Fatty Koo | Hockey Night - Keep Guessin'

The Southland - Influence of Geography C+
Not the best The Southland CD but its the only one Ive heard.  I dont know what that means.  The songs are a bit catchy but somewhat redundant at the same time.  It starts off with the best track and then it lost me.

Dropkick Murphys - The Warrior's Code A-
As always, DKM doesn't disappoint.  When I first got the advance in a few months back, I wasn't completely impressed but now hearing it again, I love it.  Definetely better than their previous effort Blackout.  DKM go back to their roots a bit on The Warrior's Code.

Dope - American Apathy B+
Dope has always been one one the best heavy rock acts out there and this album doesn't waver from that.  Their lack of commercialism aside, it is my recommendation to Dope that they keep doing covers of 80s songs as they nail it on the head every time with You Spin Me Round a few years back and People are People and F**k the Police on this album.

Joy Williams - Genesis B
The talent of Joy Williams is immense.  At first listen, it sounds like normal bubblegum pop but as you delve deeper, there is actually, well, depth-ness to what Joy sings about and the songwriting in general.

The Fall of Troy - Doppelganger D-
Like some kind of strange mix between emo, Alien Ant Farm and some forced metal, The Fall of Troy have literally forced me to tear my ears off.  Seriously, I'm going to the hospital right after I finish this article
.

Mobius Band - The Loving Sounds of Static D+
I was expecting more from this.  Instead it is boring, muffled and doesn't have the ooomph (it's a word) that is should.  I'm going to eat lunch
.

Rooftop Suicide Club - Always Like This F
They should commit suicide so they don't have to release this music any more.  OK, I'm just joking.  But seriously, die.

The Like - Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking? B+
Female fronted The Like are a pleasant surprise.  Good vocals, great drums and reminiscent of K's Choice.  I don't know about that deer on the cover though, kinda scares me.

Fatty Koo - House of Fatty Koo B+
What is a Fatty Koo?  Well, whatever they are, they are good.  The bounce of the bass and the flow of the lyrics more than make up for the ridiculous name.  Fatty who?  FATTY KOO!!

Hockey Night - Keep Guessin' C-
In what is likely the final release on the legendary Lookout Records, Hockey Night slowly give you their feelings.  At first, I though my CD player was on slow.  But, then I realized that my CD player doesn't have that option.  Wouldn't it be cool if it did though?  I think Pink Floyd would sound pretty cool slowed down...a.....lot.
