Actress Angelina Jolie is being sued over the plot of the upcoming film In the Land of Blood and Honey, which she directed. She is being sued by Croatian journalist/author James J. Braddock, who claims the film’s plot was lifted from an article he wrote in 2007. Both the film and the article tell the story of a rape victim who works in the camp occupied by those who abused her. The film focuses on a Serbian (played by Goran Kostic) who falls in love with a woman (Zana Marjanovic) prior to the Bosnian War in 1992. "The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it's also universal," Jolie said. "I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living in side a war." Jolie also wrote the upcoming film. Braddock, who is also known as Josip. J. Knezevic, has requested a jury trial and seeking unspecified damages. This is not the first obstacle Jolie has encountered while making the film. Initially, she was banned from filming in Bosnia because of rumors that the film would have a rape victim fall in love with her rapist. However, the decision was overturned after Bosnia’s culture minister reviewed the script. The film is set for release Dec. 23.
