Konami Announces Reflection For Nintendo DSiWare

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced Reflection, their first title for Nintendo DSi™ available on Nintendo DSiWare™ for download. Combining the true 2D platformer with puzzle elements, the challenging and addictive title allows players to control a character and her mirror image through two platforming levels simultaneously.

In Reflection, players take on the role of an adventurer named Kirra who is tasked with retrieving a magical mirror that has been inadvertently broken, unleashing a shattered reality and splitting Kirra's character into two parts. Players will be challenged as they explore various locations including forests and temples and solve puzzles by using both characters in tandem in order to find and reassemble the mirror and restore reality.

"We wanted to come out of the gate with a quality title for our first Nintendo DSi release and Reflection has definitely set the bar high with a great storyline and gameplay features that any player would find compelling," said Anthony Borquez, Vice President of Online Development of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "Nintendo DSi is the optimal device to host a 2D Platformer title and as a downloadable puzzle platformer, Reflection will provide gamers with an experience that can't be missed."

Using the dual screen functionality on Nintendo DSi, Reflection will challenge gamers as they focus on playing both screens while navigating through the game, playing as both Kirra and her shadow. Players are essentially forced to control both a normal character and an upside-down mirror image simultaneously with the same set of controls, all while solving puzzles that involve manipulating both characters to progress. As the game alternates between these two sub-mechanics, gamers will have to learn to utilize both characters in order to prevail. Developed by Intrinsic Games, Reflection is part of a growing franchise as the first Nintendo DS title to win the 2009 Independent Games Festival Award, and winner of the next best mobile game award at the 2009 Game Developer's Conference.
