While Adele's "21" returns, as expected, to the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a tenth non-consecutive week (114,000; down 5%) and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" falls to No. 2 (100,000; down 42%), the real news is the stunning re-entry at No. 3.

The original Broadway cast recording of "The Book of Mormon" comes roaring back in at No. 3 with 61,000 sold (up 2,116%) following the show's nine Tony Award wins on Sunday, June 12. It is the highest charting Broadway cast album -- and first top 10 -- since 1969, when "Hair" spent 13 straight weeks at No. 1.

And, with a whopping 61,000, "Mormon" owns the largest sales week for any cast album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. The previous best sales week for a cast set belonged to the original London cast recording of "Phantom of the Opera" (Highlights), which sold 54,000 over the Christmas week of 1992.

"The Book of Mormon" actually debuted on the chart three weeks ago at No. 31 with 13,000 in sales, when it was initially only available as a digital album. It saw a physical CD release on June 7, just in time to capitalize on its Tony Awards momentum: it went into the June 12 kudocast with a field-leading 14 nominations.

After its initial first week, the "Mormon" album fell to No. 124 (4,000) and then slipped off the tally last week -- only to re-enter now at No. 3 in a post-Tonys frenzy.

No doubt the set is also spurred on by AmazonMP3's multi-day sale pricing of the digital album. The retailer offered it at just $1.99 for three days during the sales tracking week that ended on Sunday night. AmazonMP3 tweeted and promoted the set almost daily from Thursday June 9 at midnight through Sunday evening. Additionally, a TV commercial ran during the Tony Awards broadcast, touting Amazon's $1.99 deal. In turn, of the album's 61,000 haul, downloads make up an exceptional 85% of its sales week.

The show -- with music and lyrics by "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and "Avenue Q" co-writer Robert Lopez, opened on March 24 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Ads touting the cast album have been running during airings of "South Park" on Comedy Central, while Parker and Stone have chatted up the show on everything from NBC's "Today" to "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart." "The Book of Mormon's" nine Tony wins included best musical, direction, featured actress (Nikki M. James) and score.

Elsewhere in the top 10 this week, rapper Tech N9ne has a banner week, earning not just his first top 10 album but his best sales week yet as "All 6's & 7's" debuts at No. 4 with 56,000. The set also crowns the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart -- his first leader on that list. His previous best week came when "Killer" debuted and peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 with 36,000 in 2008.

Brooks & Dunn's Ronnie Dunn goes solo at No. 5, taking a bow with his self-titled debut album (45,000). The set also enters at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums tally. Rock band All Time Low sees its first Hopeless album released via DGC/Interscope, "Dirty Work," climb in at No. 6 with 44,000. Their last studio release, 2009's "Nothing Personal," arrived at No. 4 with 63,000.

Jason Aldean's "My Kind Of Party" continues its climb back up the Billboard 200 as it rises 8-7 with 41,000 (up 23%). The singer performed the album's "Dirt Road Anthem" with Ludacris on the June 8 CMT Awards. Fellow country star Brad Paisley is right behind Aldean, as his "This Is Country Music" slips 6-8 with 38,000 (down 29%). The "Now 38" compilation slides 7-9 (31,000; down 20%) and Death Cab for Cutie's "Codes and Keys" falls 3-10 (30,000; down 71%).

Over on the Digital Songs chart, Aldean also makes a rousing gain, as "Anthem" flies 16-4 with 169,000 (up 99%). The song's studio version with Ludacris was released June 7 and shifts 75,000 downloads, accounting for 44% of the title's overall downloads total. Also charging into the top 10 is Coldplay's "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," which benefits from its first full week of sales availability. It rises 17-7 with 136,000 (up 60%).

Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" continues to roll at No. 1 (224,000; down 8%) while Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" (featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer) also is steady at No. 2 (211,000; down 3%). LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (featuring Lauren Bennet and GoonRock) stands still at No. 3 (189,000 up 12%).

Lady Gaga's "The Edge of Glory" moves 4-5 (154,000; down 7%), Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" climbs 8-6 (143,000; up 8%) and Lil Wayne's "How to Love" is down 5-8 (133,000; down 12%). Rounding out the top 10 are Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" (falling 7-9 with just under 133,000 -- down 2%) and Katy Perry's "E.T." (down 6-10 with 124,000; down 9%).

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending June 12) totaled 5.51 million units, down less than 1% compared to the sum last week (5.52 million) and down 2% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (5.64 million). Year to date album sales stand at 136.89 million, up less than 1% compared to the same total at this point last year (136.22 million). It is the third straight week where year-to-date album volume is greater than the same time in the prior year.
