Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (3D-BLU-RAY)

“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” takes place immediately at the conclusion of the first movie. Inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) just saved the world from one of his major inventions that caused culinary mayhem around the globe. As the town starts to clean up the mess, Flint’s childhood idol, Chester V. (Will Forte) mysteriously shows up and offers to repair all the damage while the townspeople are shipped to San Franjose, California for the time being. However, the situation goes unusually wrong and Flint is called on to save the world once again. Shakefire had the chance to review the 3-D Blu-ray version of “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” and I did so with a huge smile on my face throughout the whole movie.
“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” was one of my all-time favorite books as a kid and the movie adaption is on the top of my list of favorite movies as well. However, because it is rare for me to say this, the sequel far exceeded my expectations and was actually better than the original movie. I loved everything about this movie and thought it was very well done. It was different enough from the first movie that you could distinguish the two, but still had the same great elements that made the first so enjoyable to watch. It was to the point that I don’t have anything bad or negative to say about this movie because I had such a great time watching it.
The music was perfect and set the mood for the rest of the movie. The voice acting were all perfect fits and Will Forte as Chester was the most surprising and most impressive because of the similarities with a famous former company head. The jokes and the writing was very well done and made the movie flow smoothly. I also liked how they included so many extras, bonus content, and mini movies to please any fan of the series. One of the main reasons why I liked this movie so much were because of the visuals. The 3-D was superb and rivaled Pixar in most cases and the vibrant colors and use of effects were stunning to look at as well. Also, the creativity and the thoughtful usage of the food blew the first movie out of the water.
At first, I was not sure if this movie would live up to the success and hype of the book and the first movie. I was wrong on so many levels because “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” was an awesome movie. This is the perfect movie for all ages and is sure to entertain your whole family. The 3-D did add a whole new depth of entertainment and was properly utilized in this film. I highly recommend watching “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” for so many good reasons. That’s why I am giving this movie my first “A+” of 2014.
