There are some pro’s and con’s to the Death Note: Complete Series Collection on DVD. For starters, this collection is simply the original parts 1 and 2 DVD versions that have already been released. The only thing new about the collection is it contains the entire series in one purchase and there is some new artwork.

On the other hand, if you buy this complete collection you get everything for less then you would buying both of the original releases. You still get the same supplemental material though.

Since this release coincides with the upcoming Christmas holiday there is no doubt that fans of the series who do not already own it will love it as either a gift or a purchase. Like so many other’s have stated, it sucks that there isn’t a Blu-Ray version of this included or even on the horizon. Crazy that there is already a Blu-Ray version of the first two Death Note films (if you’re of the camp that L: The Last Name is part of that canon that‘s on Blu-Ray as well), but not the anime.

Not much else to be said about this release. Same picture, same audio quality, same supplemental material. It’s just a new complete package with new packaging. In any case, Death Note pretty much sells itself.
