Dream Theater: Live at Luna Park

On Blu-Ray:
Tuesday, November 5, 2013
Running Time:
300 Minutes
It’s been awhile since I listened to Dream Theater, but the memories came flooding back as I watched this mammoth release of their concert filmed at Luna Park.
The concert BD is rather extensive, lasting nearly three hours long with songs from the bands extensive catalogue. The performance is a combination of live, CGI, and film clips. The entire event is brought to life with a rather impressive 1080i picture quality that, aside from some atmospheric interferences from lights and smoke, the picture is sharp, vibrantly colorful, and detailed. As an even more immersive effect the concert comes in a 5.1 DTS Master Audio track that turns any good sound system into a portal that will take you live to the event. The sound is just amazing and so very clear. I’ve already got it in my head to just turn off the television and listen on some occasions.
Bonus features for the disc are pretty massive as well and include 6 bonus tracks, trailer, behind the scenes footage, the CGI cartoon intro for the event in its entirety, angle options for Outcry, a full color picture booklet, and a 25+ minute documentary with the band and their behind the curtain personas.
All in all Eagle Rock does a fantastic job of transferring this concert to HD and the cost for such a massive concert Blu-Ray is so low it’s practically stealing. 300 Minutes of absolutely fantastic music from a pioneer band on a disc that both provides awesome clarity and vibrancy along with dynamic sound. It’s just shy of being there yourself. Well worth adding to your collection.
