Some bands like to write songs where they have the instruments playing something that they think sounds good. Another way bands create their music is by trying to create a different sound with the instruments so that the songs are fuller than the usual guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, with the occasional keyboards. Ezra Vine is easily put into the later category of trying to create a different sound with his music. This New Zealand musician has released his debut single “Celeste” that has become quite popular and liked in New Zealand and it's no wonder why he has.
Celeste is a  very fun song to  listen to. I don't  say that  because it has some good beats that I enjoy listening to but it's just fun. Listening to this song reminds  me of being in my late teens to early 20's  where I had no plans for the day other than just to have fun with my friends and being in love with a girl. It's a song that made me forget for 3 minutes and 21 seconds that I had to go to work, pay my electric bill, while knowing that at the end of my day I wasn't going to do anything but go home to get ready for the next day, in other words, being an adult. Celeste took me back to the days of me only worrying about what me and my friends where going to do for the day and nothing else matter or existed. It's that kind of fun that I'm talking about. The energy and vibes being put out of the beats are contagious where I want to clap along with the claps and start to sing along with it.
There's not many instruments being played in this song, a guitar, the hand claps, and the drums but it's the combination of these at the appropriate moments that make the song. Before the song finished the first time I had to stop myself from clapping along and by the second time I was clapping and trying to get the lyrics down. Ezra Vine has created a song with really good beats and rhythms that make it addicting on the first time of hearing. Bring in his vocals and the song takes on another dimension. He has a clear and precise voice that's easy to understand. Not only does his vocals have a lot of emotion in them but he puts those emotions into me as I listened. The only thing better than the song was when I watched the video of the song. It's a drawing or maybe an animation now of what looks like a robot walking around fields. It's a video that seems more like a short film than a music video. It looks really cool and is pretty artistic with the styles of drawing being used. It's a very fitting video for his song. Right now I can't wait to hear what his EP will sound like when it comes out later this year.
