Forgotten Door release Unlocked, a 9 track album that features the flavors of Classic Rock and Americana. A tandem male/female vocal unit is backed by a proficient band that seems a bit sampled in Paul Simon, Janis Joplin, and The Grateful Dead. A bit plain, but enjoyable enough.

My go round with the album had my mind reminiscing on my middle school days, rummaging through an LP collection owned by a friends Mom and discovering classic rock hour by hour. Janis Joplin, Simon and Garfunkle, Grateful Dead, The Eagles.

My first full rotation found me less inclined to write up a review then it did to look back on my musical journey, which can be looked at as a positive. The one track that stood out to me had to have been Am I Your Princess which is one of those sugary sweet tunes that might turn a childless listeners stomach, but for me it kind of hit a nerve.

By my third rotation I had heard all I needed to hear from the album. It’s a proficient album that seems to be written in a straight forward type of way. Each song seems driven by a producers mindset, aiming for specific demographics, and handled with a studio finesse that, at times, feels a bit generic.

Overall, if you love radio, you’re more then likely going to enjoy this album. It was good for a few spins, might even revisit it a bit further down the line, at least certain tracks. Once again, proficient, but by far lacking a substance base. As always, final judgment is yours. Enjoy.
