Yuna is a singer/songwriter from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her influences include Fiona Apple, The Cranberries, and No Doubt. She has already released several EPs and received lots of critical praise and several rewards. Her latest studio release, “Nocurnal,” was released on October 29th.

This is my first hearing about Yuna and I can honestly say I was blown away by her talent. She’s a mix between Sade, Michelle Branch, No Doubt, and Norah Jones. Yuna has a style of her that I fell in love with. Her voice has great range and sounds so emotional and sultry on each of her songs. Her lyrics are very methodical and easy to relate to. She also showcases her versatility with the wide array of styles on the album. My favorite songs were “Someone who Can” and “I want you back” because they hit an emotional chord with me and were so memorable.

If she hasn’t broken into main stream music yet, I know she will for sure soon. Her singing and song writing is full of talent and she is sure to be a juggernaut to give her musical influences a run for their money. I highly recommend checking out “Nocturnal” and telling your friends about Yuna. Whether you’re having a bubble bath or doign chores around the house, Yuna’s music will make you think and surely make you feel something. For those reasons, I am giving this album an “A.”
