Listening to the album Jessie Sparks by Jessie Sparks made me feel like I should be in some dark jazz/blues club, smoke everywhere, as I sit watching Jessie Sparks on stage in some extravagant gown that glitters as she sings her songs. That’s actually my second impression after hearing her voice in the first few moments of the first song ‘More Suitable Type’. My first impression was from how deep and sultry Jessie Sparks voice is. Listening to her sing with that deep, sultry, and sexy voice was like I was being seduced as I sat there being transfixed on her.

What I liked most about these 5 songs is her voice. Jessie Sparks has a very strong and powerful voice that has taken these songs with the simple beats and rhythms and made them sound like a difficult song. Though the lyrics are a little bland at times, the way that Jessie Sparks is able to hold long notes without her voice cracking or wavering any. Though I really am impressed with her voice there’s not much more to the songs. Most of the songs are carried by her voice while only having a few set of instruments being played in them.

What instrument is heard the most in the songs is the guitar, which is being played like a blues song with that sound where you just want to close your eyes when listening to it. But thing is the instruments are low and set behind the vocals, which is the way it should be but they also should have enough levels to them where they could be heard at a level with the vocals. At certain times I could barely hear the instrumental sections during the songs even when the vocals were at a lower level, the sounds of the guitar and drums where still being drowned out by the voice of Jessie Sparks. Still, the 5 songs are strong, the vocals have a sexy, velvet sound to them, and I enjoyed listening to them. The main problem is that there were only 5 songs, with a voice like Jessie Sparks has she needs to have a full album.
