Artist: Margo Rey Album: Habit Genre: Easy Listening, Pop Label: Organica Music Group Tracks: 13 Type: LP Release Date: July 10, 2012 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: C+ If you've been following my reviews here over the past few years, then it should come as no surprise that easy listening/adult pop music really isn't my thing. For one thing, it's usually somewhat boring and the rest of the time it's completely boring. The music is uninteresting and the lyrics are trite. It's a style of music that's typically shallow and cliched. In the wide landscape of musical expression, there's simply so many other genres that are more interesting and compelling. Unfortunately, that also pretty much sums up how I feel about this particular album. It's pretty standard pop fare, with danceable beats and not much else. Rey's vocals are pleasant enough, but there's nothing overly distinctive to set her apart from all the other female pop vocalists currently on the radio. There are a few Latin influences here or there, but it's mostly over-produced pop, too slick by far. That being said, this might be right up your alley. If you like pop/Top 40 music, you might absolutely love this. If that's the case, then you should definitely check this out. As for me, I'll be moving on to something else. |
