Artist: Preschool of Rock Album: Everything Makes A Sound Members: Michael Napolitano Genre: Kids Label: Preschool of Rock Tracks: 10 Type: LP Release Date: December 4, 2012 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: A+ Preschool of Rock is my new favorite kids music band, and trust me, I have lots. What makes Preschool of Rock so awesome is that their entire album, Everything Makes A Sound, really does employee the title ideology because the entire album is made up of sounds from things you can find around the house. You’ve got shakers, and pots and pans (seriously go to youtube and watch this guy work a collection of metal mixing bowls, awesome!), and some stuff I hope to see being played in video. Just knowing there are no traditional instruments on the album and hearing these incredible sounds that sound so traditional, it really sparks the imagination. The album is a total of ten songs, which ends up seeming too little cause you want it to continue on. Most of the songs are silly such as the Cupcake Song which reminded me of Presidents of The United States of America for some reason, and then you have imaginative songs like the Safari Song (our favorite). What’s cool about this song is the immense groove, the vocals, lyrics, and the addition of kids singing. It all just comes together so well. The title song is probably the most impressive though as it is filled with a plethora of sounds to illustrate that anything musical is possible. That’s a great message for kids interested in music and for parents who have it in mind that all musical instruments are costly. Have fun, be imaginative. Good stuff.
