Artist: Alberto Iglesias Album: Tinker Tailor Solider Spy (The Soundtrack) Members: Alberto Iglesias Genre: Soundtrack/Theater Label: Silva America Tracks: 19 Type: LP Release Date: November 21, 2011 Rating: ( )Grade: D “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” was first released in 1979. However, a remake of the movie was released earlier this month and stars Gary Oldman. I reviewed the original movie a couple months ago and thought it was very slow paced and tame. I had the chance to review the soundtrack for the new movie and it seems like not much was changed for the new iteration. The movie soundtrack was composed by Alberto Iglesias and has 19 tracks. Some of the songs, such as “Esterhase” and “Polykov” were actually pretty good, but the rest of the CD was fairly boring. I can see how the soundtrack added suspense and mystery to the movie, but it felt a bit too heavy with all the pianos. Most of the tracks were slow paced like the original movie and “Anything Else” even put me to sleep. After a while, all the tracks started to sound the same and seemed to drag on and on. Unless you really like slow movies or you are hosting a murder mystery dinner party, I would steer clear of this soundtrack. For those reasons, I am giving this soundtrack a “D.” |
