Title: Catch .44 Starring: Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker, Malin Akerman, Nikki Reed, Deborah Ann Woll Director: Aaron Harvey Studio: Anchor Bay Runtime: 93 Minutes Release Date: December 20, 2011 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 1 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: B- Factoid: In once scene in the film the girls are driving and one of them throws on a Bruce Willis album. What can you expect from Catch .44? Well, for starters the film is simply a collection of elements. For example, if you were trying to describe the work of Tarantino, what Grindhouse is, and how Sophia Coppola or Wes Anderson put together a movie soundtrack, well, this would be your explanation. It’s basically Death Proof, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, some small snippets of Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror (film technique anyway), with a classic/indie rock soundtrack. Needless to say I had to force myself to watch it all the way through to the end. In short, I hated the story for its lack of originality and, really, lack of story all together. The only real shining light in the whole picture was Forest Whitaker (The Last Kind Of Scotland). From the Executive Producers of Machete and True Grit. QUALITY: Audio is also just as great. Ambient sounds manage to pop up in side channels while gunshots and vehicle motors manage to uphold a nice deep LFE output. Dialogue is never strained and the combination of all of the above never step over one another in the presentation. BONUS FEATURES: Stars: Pictures: |
