Factoid:

This marks the third picture that Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman have worked on together, following High Crimes and Kiss the Girls. ~IMDB

It seems like every year an animal film graces the big screen. Sometimes these films have a huge impact that merits sequel after sequel and sometimes they simply come and go. Dolphin Tale was a smash hit at the box office and garnered mostly positive reviews from movie goers. Since it's based on a true story, hopefully, Warner Bros will have enough sense to leave it as a stand alone title unless Winter, the Dolphin in Dolphin Tale, manages to do something else extraordinary. In any case if you were a fan of the film you will no doubt love what Warner has done with the film on Blu-Ray.

QUALITY:
Aside from some very poor looking CGI at the start of the film Dolphin Tale has a fantastic looking picture. Detail brings out sharp line definition around objects and offers up a magnified presentation of facial features, clothing detail, even background objects look sharp even at a distance. Color is extremely well represented adding depth to bright blue skies, wavy black and blue ocean waters, and vegetation in scenery really pops. Black levels are strong and void of grain and skin colors look natural. There really is very little to complain about when it comes to the picture quality of Dolphin Tale.

Audio is mostly front heavy, occasionally offering up subtle immersion in side speakers. Ocean waves and animal noises sound off in the distance when they are not coming from the films animal stars. Dialogue is clear of soundtrack and ambient noise and all three seem to mesh well together to offer an optimal, if not lean, surround sound experience. Yet again, not much to complain about as far as Dolphin Tale getting the job done offering up you and yours an enjoyable at home cinematic experience.

BONUS FEATURES:
~The Hutash Rainbow Bridge: An animated short narrated by star Harry Connick, Jr. tackling the legend of the Hutash Rainbow Bridge. It’s an okay feature kids will enjoy maybe once, but as a great bonus feature it fails the test.
~At Home With Winter: Viewers get a look at Winter, the dolphin that the film is based on as well as the actual star of the film.
~Dolphin Tale - Spotlight On The Scene: If you’ve seen the film you’ve seen almost all of this bonus feature.
~Winter’s Inspiration: The true story of Winter and how her prosthetic tail has helped human amputees.
~Crime and The Cookie Jar: Another animated short.
~Deleted Scene and Gag Reel
