Elvis fans rejoice, The King has come to Blu-ray for the first time with two feature films (Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas) and a concert film (Elvis On Tour).

QUALITY:
Jailhouse Rock - Filmed in black and white, is a much easier transition for the picture to come crisp, clean and clear, and it does. My first Elvis film experience was a good one seeing as how Jailhouse Rock really is a film with plot and all. Warner did a fantastic job making the film look great and audio is a tremendous upgrade from any of the previous releases of the film boasting a great TRUEHD 5.1 mix that gives fans and audiophiles exactly what they want.

Viva Las Vegas - A little tougher transfer and remastering seeing as how the original film was shot in what is called Metrocolor, which I assume is somewhat like Technicolor. Colors are cartoon-ish in some ways but all together Warner does it again offering up a seemingly flawless picture for a film this old. Audio is once again offered in TRUEHD 5.1 giving you a great companion element with the films great picture.

Elvis On Tour - The weaker of the three releases. Elvis on Tour is obviously a film that was transferred from a few poorer quality sources so the irremovable flaws found there show here. The touch up Warner does is decent in some area’s but the older source material dominates the feature with scratches here and there and signs of age. Audio quality is given, for the first time ever, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix. Possibly the golden lining for this release, being able to have a concert film of The King in such a high standard sound quality. Still, don’t go in expecting this film to mirror its two other counterparts in this collection. This film was supervised by Martin Scorsese (The Last Waltz)

*Both Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas come with additional sound mixes including; Dolby Digital 5.1 and original Mono.

BONUS FEATURES:
Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas contain:
*Commentary by Elvis In Hollywood author Steve Pond
*Retrospective Featurette

Unlike the Elvis On Tour individual release this set version does not include the 40 page booklet.
