Coming off the success of Bradley Coopers The Hangover and Sandra Bullocks The Proposal You’d automatically assume that putting them together in one film would make it one of the funniest you could imagine. Unfortunately the film is not what it appears. A romantic comedy you would assume right? Well its not. A chick flick maybe? Nope. The film seems to be something for no one. Which will more then likely leave everyone feeling a bit disappointed.

Sandra Bullock plays Mary, a crossword puzzle constructor for a small newspaper who talks to her hamster and lives at her parents house. She has to have been one of the most annoying characters I’ve seen on screen since Eddie Murphy played Buddy Love in The Nutty Professor. Her quirks, that she never shuts up and talks with a horrible baby voice and is a know it all just eats the film up entirely. Bradley Cooper for his part is somewhat funny but the film isn’t really his. Sure he’s Mary’s infatuation but the lack of on screen time together for the two of them equals no chemistry, no relationship, no plot devices to derive sympathy from for either. Its just a complete waste of time and you can chalk that up to the advertisement of the film making you think it had a point.

I have to say that if the finger was to be pointed at anyone it would be a toss up between the casting department and the writers. All About Steve was filmed at least a year before the two aforementioned theatrical hits for both stars and with that being said you’d think they would have surrounded them with some decent talent (or atleast waited until the two stars were in danger of burning out). Thomas Haden Church, as usual gives us his most monotone performance which does nothing for the film. Ken Jeong, who also starred in The Hangover, is good for what he’s got to work with, he’s not comic relief, but he’s good. Then you’ve got a totally miscast DJ Qualls and of all the people to put in place as Bullocks parents Beth Grant and Howard Hesseman. Grant has been anything but funny starting off with her most memorable character in the 2001 cult hit Donnie Darko and I haven’t seen Hesseman funny since WKRP,  not that either of them are funny in this film in any way. Its simply a sad wreck of a film that relies to much on its feel good aspect without ever giving you a hero or a heroine, a story to love, or…well, anything. While I had hoped to be kept entertained I feel as if this film can qualify for nothing less then an F. You might get a few chuckles but not your money's worth.

All About Steve-

This movie needed help! It was ok, not good or great. I thought it would be better because of Bullock and Cooper. Coming off the success of both of their movies, they should've reshot some of the scenes to make more funny or interesting. I like both of them. But together something was missing. Too bad.

Funny

Saundra Bullock always comes through, this was a chick flick that even guys will get laughs from. This movie will put a smile on your face and laughter that comes out in LOL moments.

All About Steve

Too bad. I was looking forward to some comical exchange between Bullock and Cooper . I am glad that I read this review before I headed to the theater this weekend. It sounds like terrible as well as annoying. I would probably still check it out (to see Sandra's baby voice....;) if there was nothing else to see currently, but since there are a few other movies that I have not seen yet, I may rent this one.
