Show: Angelina Ballerina Season/Volume: Love To Dance Genre: Kids Starring: Judi Dench, Jo Wyatt, Finty Williams, Keith Wickham Studio: Lyons / Hit Ent. Runtime: 61 Minutes Release Date: August 31, 2010 Format: DVD Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: A+ Meet the little star with big dreams, Angelina Ballerina. In this collection of episodes Angelina learns quite a few lessons along her goal driven path to stardom in a world splashed with vibrant colors, catchy tunes, and friendly characters. 5 episodes make up the disc along with 3 bonus features. A perfect gift for your little ballerina. Episode one, Angelina’s New School, is actually an episode formerly titled Angelina’s Musical Day, a bonus episode from the HIT Favorites: Music, Music Everywhere DVD. No harm no foul as the likelihood of owning both of those collections are pretty slim (One being, really a sampler, and this DVD being a fan purchase). In any regards its Angelina’s first day at her new school and she’s feeling a bit out of place but her new friendly school mates go out of their way to make her feel welcome. A great episode for those kids starting school this year. Angelina’s Dance Partner is next. The recital is coming up and the children have been paired off in couples. Angelina and a friend both lose their partners due to the sniffles so they decide to work together but things turn disastrous when they can’t find a way to make their individual styles work together. Angelina’s Oldest Friend follows with Angelina introducing her best friend from her old school to her new friends from her new school. A mock classroom in Angelina’s room with her best friend Alice as the teacher ends up alienating Angelina’s two group of friends and they must find someway to play together. Angelina’s Sleepover has Angelina and her friends learning a lesson about responsibility. Can they stay up late enough to finish their hats for the parade and get enough sleep to keep them on their toes for tomorrows recital auditions? Finally Angelina and the Hip Hop Kid is a great episode about not judging a book by its cover. A.Z. the new kid is all about Hip Hop but can he fit in at a school comprised mostly of ballerina’s? When Angelina is partnered with him she expects the worst but soon discovers that A.Z. is more then he appears. I’ll admit that this show did get on my nerves a little . The main character is so goal oriented that she becomes judgmental of others, gets her priorities out of whack, and has a pretty bad attitude on occasion but I suppose that’s just kids. I was impressed by the amazing array of colors in the Angelina Ballerina world as well as the music which is in a range of classic to hip hop to pop. Singing, dancing, and a beautiful backdrop will surely have your little ones laughing and enjoying all the DVD has to offer. Bonus features include a remarkably fun Angelina Says Game which is basically Angelina asking the kids to perform specific ballerina moves. What I liked most about this feature is that kids get a visual on the moves as well as the appropriate name for the move. That’s both fun as well as educational. Get Up and Dance Music Video is another bonus that splices together several episode dance segments and puts them to a catchy beat. Finally I Will Be A Star Karaoke Video will be sure to have your kids singing along and possibly even dancing along. Affordably priced and chalk full of entertainment for your little ballerina’s. I highly suggest. Enjoy. |
