GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS: In Gene Simmons Family Jewels Season 6 Volume 1, we got to see Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed go through some rough patches with their relationship. One of the more famous rock and roll couples, having 2 children, but still only remaining boyfriend and girlfriend, it was time to finally settle down and tie the knot. Here it is at last, what Shannon Tweed has been waiting for, what Gene Simmons seemed to be putting off, and what the audience has been longing to see, the big day when the couple weds.
SEASON 6 VOLUME 2:
After watching volume 1 of Gene Simmons Family Jewels I go to say I wasn’t too interested in watching volume 2. My question was what’s the point in watching it? It really felt like I’d seen enough of this family’s life already but I also didn’t care much about watching them lead up to getting married. For me going to weddings is boring enough that I don’t want to be there until it’s time for my own. Watching a wedding on a television show of a couple that’s basically already married anyways because they’ve been together for so many years but all that’s missing are the rings and the paper work. Well, that and the fact that they didn’t get to put on the big show for the wedding, with all the guests, the dress, suit, and hoopla of a traditional wedding.
Only this is not the traditional couple so can we expect a traditional wedding? Nope, at least this wasn’t any traditional wedding that I know of but then again I’ve never known millionaires who are rich and famous to the point of almost getting whatever they want while also having a film crew following them around all the time. I also don’t know any couple where it’s well know by the soon to be wife that the soon to be husband has been cheating on her on multiple times yet forgives him. This second half to the season seemed like a much bigger performance than the volume 1 did.
It got to the point of being ridiculous, with all the drama that’s always being played out between the family. I know that the drama is what brings in most of the viewers to watch this show but for me it just gets old really fast. For me the most interesting parts of this show is when the family is sitting on the couch talking to the camera. Watching the reactions, or more so the no reactions of Gene Simmons facial expressions were pretty funny. Plus just the way that he would respond to what was said, also pretty funny as well as how the other responded to him. As for the rest of the time, the other 99% of the show where it feels like most of the show is being scripted while the rest of it is everyone playing up to the camera. I’m sure some will find watching the couple going through a wedding boot camp or when Shannon wants to be a partner in Genes business but mostly the wedding itself, but for me it was a bit droll.
